2016 Honda Accord vs 2016 Mazda6

2016 Honda Accord vs 2016 Mazda6 standard features

What's the most fun you can have in a midsize sedan? Well, that depends on what you're looking for. Both the 2016 Honda Accord and the 2016 Mazda 6 have earned great reviews from test drivers. Both cars definitely have their strengths. But only one of them has the complete package -- satisfying performance, plus every convenient feature you could hope for, inside and out.

Let's start with performance. Both the 2016 Honda Accord and the 2016 Mazda 6 offer sporty, dynamic handling no matter which trim you choose. The Mazda 6's 184-horsepower 4-cylinder engine is incredibly fuel-efficient. So is the Accord's 4-cylinder engine. However, only the Accord comes with a second, more powerful V-6 option. They're both fun to drive, but the Mazda 6 isn't nearly as fast as its sporty looks suggest. For superior performance, choose a V-6 Accord.

Head to Head on Safety, Features, and Packaging

Both of these cars got top-notch marks in government and IIHS crash testing. Both come standard with a rearview camera, and they both have a blind spot monitor available as well. The 2016 Accord and the 2016 Mazda 6 both offer state-of-the-art driver assistance technology, including automatic collision braking, lane departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control. With the Mazda 6, these are available on the top-of-the-line Grand Touring model only. With the 2016 Accord, they come standard on the Touring edition, but they're available across the entire price range.

Both cars have excellent premium audio systems available; Bluetooth hands-free phone systems and Pandora audio streaming are standard on both. However, only the 2016 Accord also includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. Both cars are comfortable inside, with plenty of space for passengers. But the 2016 Accord goes above and beyond, with a ride as quiet as a luxury car, and deluxe amenities like a heated backseat available.
