2019 Honda Passport vs 2019 Honda Pilot

There’s no doubt 2019 has been a big year for the Honda SUV family. The fresh model year has brought a rejuvenated 2019 Honda Pilot design, along with the exciting debut of the all-new 2019 Honda Passport midsize crossover. Carrying a near-identical design, build and engine lineup, Honda enthusiasts with their eye on the Pilot are now left to wonder if the Passport might be a better fit. Finding that answer may be easier than you think, as there are some pretty stark differences between the two models. See what we mean in this in-depth comparison of the 2019 Honda Passport and the 2019 Honda Pilot.

The all-new Honda Passport comes in four trim levels – Sport, EX-L, Touring and Elite – each with their own distinct feature offerings. Updated for 2019, the Honda Pilot lineup offers 5 trim options – LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and Elite.

2019 Honda Passport and 2019 Honda Pilot Passenger Space Comparison

In terms of size, the Passport slots right under the Pilot in the 2019 Honda SUV lineup. Between the Passport’s 2-row setup and the Pilot’s 3-row layout, the biggest difference between the two is in seating capacity. Passport models feature seating for up to 5 passengers. With the extra row, the Pilot comes standard with seating for up to 8 passengers or 7 with the optional second-row captain’s chairs.

The two models come about even in their first- and second-row passenger space accommodations, though the Passport does offer about an inch more legroom in the second row (39.6 inches vs 38.4 inches).

In lieu of third-row seating, the Passport gains a remarkably spacious cargo area spanning 41.2 cubic feet. That’s more than 2x the cargo capacity offered on the 2019 Pilot.
