2026 Honda Ridgeline Towing Capacity & Payload Specs
The 2026 Honda Ridgeline is powered by a proven 3.5-liter V6 engine and the advanced i-VTM4® All-Wheel Drive system. While this powertrain is legendary for its reliability (often exceeding 200,000 miles), it has specific maintenance needs that differ significantly from the 4-cylinder engines found in the CR-V or Civic.
At Heather Cannon Honda in Ponca City, we know that many of our customers use their trucks for "Severe Service", towing boats to Kaw Lake, hauling feed, or idling in summer heat. These activities accelerate fluid degradation.
Here is the official 2026 Honda Ridgeline Maintenance Schedule to protect your investment.
Understanding the Maintenance Minder™
Your 2026 Ridgeline does not use a fixed "3,000-mile" oil change schedule. Instead, the onboard computer monitors engine operating conditions (RPM, temperature, run time) to calculate the exact life of your oil.
When the wrench icon illuminates on your dashboard, you will see a Main Code (A or B) followed by Sub-Codes (1 through 6).
| Code | Meaning | Service Required |
| A | Oil Change | Replace engine oil. (Filter optional by manual, but mandatory at Heather Cannon Honda). |
| B | Oil, Filter & Inspection | Replace oil & filter. Inspect brakes, suspension, driveshaft boots, and exhaust. |
| 1 | Tire Rotation | Rotate tires. Check inflation and tread depth. |
| 2 | Filters | Replace Air Cleaner Element (Engine) & Dust/Pollen Filter (Cabin). |
| 3 | Transmission Fluid | Replace Transmission Fluid (ATF) and Transfer Case Fluid. |
| 4 | Major Service | Replace Spark Plugs, Timing Belt, and Inspect Valve Clearance. |
| 5 | Coolant | Replace Engine Coolant. |
| 6 | Differential Fluid | Replace Rear Differential Fluid (Essential for i-VTM4® health). |
The "V6 Specific" Critical Items
 | Unlike the 2026 Civic or CR-V which use timing chains (maintenance-free), the Ridgeline’s V6 engine uses a Timing Belt.
- The 100,000-Mile Rule: The Code 4 service is the most critical service in the life of your truck. You must replace the timing belt around 100,000 miles (or 7 years).
- The Risk: The J35 engine is an "interference engine." If the timing belt snaps due to neglect, the pistons will strike the valves, likely requiring a full engine replacement. Do not ignore Code 4.

Mileage-Based Guide (Ponca City Severe Service)
| Service Interval | What to Do | Notes / Details |
| Every 5,000 - 7,500 Miles (Oil & Rotation) |
- 0W-20 Full Synthetic Oil
- Tire Rotation
|
- V6 engine requires high-quality synthetic oil for proper i-VTEC® lubrication.
- Essential for AWD vehicles to ensure equal tire circumference and prevent rear differential stress.
|
| Every 15,000 Miles (Rear Differential) | Rear Differential Fluid (DPSF-II) | Change early for severe service to remove break-in metal particles; then every 30,000 miles thereafter. |
| Every 30,000 Miles (Transmission & Transfer Case) |
- 9-Speed ATF
- Transfer Case (HGO-1)
|
- Use Honda ATF-Type 3.1; generic ATF can cause rough shifting or failure.
- Transfer Case gear oil lubricates unit sending power to rear wheels.
|
| Every 105,000 Miles (The "Big One") |
- Timing Belt & Water Pump
- Spark Plugs
|
- Replace belt, water pump, and hydraulic tensioner together for another 100,000 miles of trouble-free driving.
- Install Laser Iridium plugs to restore fuel economy and smooth idle.

DIY vs. Dealer Service
While you can change your own air filters, the 2026 Ridgeline’s 9-speed transmission is a sealed unit that requires a specific temperature-check procedure to verify fluid levels. It does not have a traditional dipstick.
Trust the Certified Technicians at Heather Cannon Honda. We have the specific Honda diagnostic tools to reset your Maintenance Minder and ensure your i-VTM4® system is calibrated correctly.
